The Silver Nugget from 2024 That Can Transform Your 2025
Here is how the story unfolds:
A month ago, I received a LinkedIn inbox email that caught my attention BIG TIME!
“Get your free Kindle copy of Playful Humans”
It was perfect timing! I was heading to my happy place for the holidays to get ‘sunergized,’ and this offer was the right book at the right time.
(I’m a hard-copy kind of person, so I ordered it on Amazon
Honestly, I’ve been waiting for this book for six years!
The funny thing is that it’s brand new, hot off the press, and launched in 2024.
Serendipity?
Hot diggity dog! I’m in for a ride!
I have to say, this book was my Silver Nugget for 2024—a life-changing gem I can’t wait to see unfold in action.
Let me continue my story and share why this book could launch you into an extraordinary 2025.
It’s an antigravity book—you just can’t put it down.
Thanks, Mike!
Have I captured your curiosity yet? Let me tell you more.
This thought-provoking, easy read is filled with humor and guaranteed to give you a perma-grin. The author challenges you to unpack limiting beliefs and patterns while inviting more play into your life. It’s full of doable actions.
My absolute favorite? The ‘Alter Ego Exercise.’
Mine is called: SurfGurl.
(When we chat next, I’ll tell you more.)
I highly recommend the paper copy—you’ll want to mark it up, highlight standout passages, and post-it-note the heck out of it with your own thoughts and follow-up ideas. That’s exactly what I did.
Why I’ve Been Waiting Six Years for a Resource Like This
It all started in late November six years ago. I was working on the Designing Your Life (DYL) programming by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans. I was on the Odyssey Planning exercise—a major Silver Nugget for me that shifted my mindset and raised my happiness meter. (Thanks, Dave!)
BTW, if you ever get a chance to attend one of Dave’s lectures, it’s epic!
Here’s a snapshot of my Odyssey Plans:
Odyssey Plan #1:Sprint and Stroll
In this life plan, I work in sprints.
For each quarter of 13 weeks, I never work more than three weeks without taking a break, totaling three weeks off collectively. I use that time to learn, explore, create communities, and restore.
Update: Mission accomplished!
This plan led to my Sprint and Stroll Lifestyle, which you can read more about in this easy-read blog
Odyssey Plan #2: The Walkabout Plan
In this plan, I cash in and venture around the world for 52 weeks, taking in lectures, learning, experiencing adventures, and building new global communities of friends and colleagues.
Update: This inspired my ‘58 Epic Experiences’ Plan, I created a version of this plan and have been on this adventure for a few years now with my ‘Work from Anywhere Plan.’
Odyssey Plan #3: The Play Plan
In this plan, I become an expert in Play, study the science of happiness and play, and even do a TED talk. I spend my time encouraging others to Spark Play and Raise the Happiness Meter, start a group called SnorkelFest (wanna join?), do more messy art projects and return to art (I went to art school back in the day).
Update: I took a course called The Science of Happiness (Berkeley) and attended a conference at 1440 Multiversity.
About 1440 Multiversity: Located in California between San Jose and Santa Cruz, 1440 Multiversity offers workshops, meditation spaces near the ‘Oldest Tree in the Redwood Forest,’ and an infinity pool to refresh your mind and body. Their tagline: “There are 1440 minutes in a day. What do you choose to do with your time?”
Another life-changer! I’ve also resumed creating art, keep learning new things and book myself on adventures that scare me just a little so I get out of my comfort zone and live with intention!
Conclusion
Six years ago, I wrote out my Odyssey Plans:
- Plan #1: Brilliant and Doable. Step One.
- Plan #2: Seemingly Out of Reach. But I adapted.
- Plan #3: Thought it would never happen – we will see!
Here’s the crazy thing: without focusing too much on these plans, I actually created a version of each one!
Writing things down truly manifests thoughts into reality. So take your ideas for a walk and see where they take you!
Thanks for letting me share this with you. My wish for you is to create a year to remember—one that sweeps away stress, sparks play, and fills you with joy.
