WHAT MATTERS MOST
Most people don’t need a new plan.
They need clarity on what actually matters and the courage to move on it.
A few years ago, this photo captured one of those moments.
My children were in their late 30s. They had busy careers, spouses, clients, responsibilities, dogs, calendars, and lives moving at full speed.
And yet, somehow, we found a window.
My son left his wife, two dogs, and work behind and flew to Mexico for three days.
My daughter left her husband, two dogs, her clients, and her busy life behind and joined us too.
Not for a wedding.
Not for a milestone birthday.
Not because it had been planned a year in advance.
Simply because the timing felt right.
For three days, our little nucleus was together.
It wasn’t about waiting until all of us—spouses and dogs included—could coordinate the perfect family gathering. We do that too, and those moments are wonderful.
This was about catching up the best we could in that moment.
About connecting to what really matters in life.
For each of us.
This photo reminds me that what matters most is not always what gets the most time on our calendar.
There will always be work to do.
There will always be another deadline.
There will always be another reason to wait.
But opportunities to gather the people you love in the same place at the same time are far more rare.
What makes this memory so special isn’t that it was perfectly planned.
It wasn’t.
It happened because we seized the moment.
We recognized the opportunity and acted on it.
That’s strategic thinking.
Not in business.
In life.
Because strategy isn’t just about deciding what to do.
It’s also about deciding what matters enough to make room for.
I don’t take moments like this for granted.
In fact, I make them a priority and bend where I can to make them happen.
Because in the end, what we prioritize reveals what we value.
Strategic Insight
What we prioritize reveals what we value.
The challenge isn’t usually knowing what matters.
The challenge is having the courage to make room for it.
Something to Think About
What matters most in your life right now?
And more importantly, does the way you spend your time reflect it?
