Freedom Is Designed
Nobody accidentally ends up with a life they love.
They build it.
One choice at a time.
One boundary.
One decision.
One courageous move.
When people look at a photo like this, they often see freedom.
What they don’t see are the choices that created it.
Looking back, I can see a pattern.
I loved design, architecture, and art school.
I loved business.
I made a choice.
Entrepreneurship.
I loved being a mom.
I loved business.
I made a choice.
A creative business that gave me the flexibility to be present for my children.
I loved entertaining.
Fine food.
Great wine.
People often told me I should be in catering.
Instead, I made a different choice.
A wine store.
I loved real estate.
Development.
Business.
Again, I made a choice.
Home renovation.
I loved fashion.
Art.
Creativity.
And I loved working alongside my daughter.
So we built a Canadian fashion and art boutique together.
Looking back, none of these decisions were driven by career advancement.
Or status.
Or climbing the next rung of the ladder.
And while making money certainly mattered, it was never the primary driver.
The real question was always:
What kind of life am I trying to build?
What mattered most?
What would allow me to experience the lifestyle, relationships, creativity, flexibility, and freedom I wanted?
That’s strategy.
Not the plan.
The choices.
Many people think strategy is about setting goals and creating a roadmap.
I see it differently.
Strategy is deciding what matters most and having the courage to make choices that support it.
Sometimes those choices look unconventional.
Sometimes they don’t make sense to other people.
Sometimes they require letting go of opportunities that look good on paper.
But over time, those choices become a life.
This is the third step of the Think-Strategy Shift.
Think It.
Shift It.
Live It.
Because at some point, strategy stops being something you think about.
It becomes something you live.
Strategic Insight
Freedom isn’t something you arrive at.
It’s something you design.
One choice at a time.
Something to Think About
What are your choices creating more of in your life right now?
Let’s Connect
If you’re navigating a transition, considering a new direction, or simply rethinking what matters most, I’d love to hear what’s unfolding.
Sometimes one conversation can reveal more than months of thinking alone.
